Known as the largest delta in the world and a renowned UNESCO World Heritage Site, Sunderban National Park is spread over an area of 4262 square kms in the southern part of West Bengal. Sundarban has been a wildlife sanctuary since 1966 and was announced as the core area of Sundarbans Tiger Reserve in 1973. This Mangrove Forest has been a fascinating junction for nature and wildlife devotees seeking some moments away from the glitz and glamour of the world. The forest has been adorned with countless Sundari trees which make it a heavenly abode for wild animals.
The most fascinating attraction of Sunderban National Park is the Royal Bengal Tiger which attracts travellers from all over the planet. A variety of other wildlife also flourishes here which includes jungle fowl, giant lizards, spotted deer, wild boar, crocodiles, etc. The four Sunderbans national parks have been put together as they all have similar features of the estuarine mangrove ecosystem. The park provides shelter to some endangered species as well which include Leopard, Indian Rhinoceros, Javan Rhinoceros, Swamp Deer, Hog Deer and Water Buffalo.
The best time to explore the picturesque beauty and wilderness of this national park is winters between December and February. Some travellers also prefer visiting the park from September to March as well to relish the chirping of beautiful migratory birds.

By Rail: Regular trains run between Canning and Sealdah. Travellers can further take van service to reach Godhkhali Jetty from where boat journey is available to the Sundarbans.
