Dharamshala
An Adventurer's Delight

Located in the upper reaches of the Kangra valley in Himachal Pradesh, Dharamshala is a paradise for adventure enthusiasts seeking the most heart pumping experiences. The city has been selfishly blessed by the Mother Nature with thick cover of deodar cedar trees that add to its pristine beauty. Away from the glamorised layers of world, the city is a haven of peace that lets you revitalize your senses to the core.

McLeod Ganj is a sheer delight for those planning holidays to Dharamshala. Situated at a height of 2,082 meters above sea level, McLeod Ganj has been adorned with Tibetan culture, handicrafts and temples. There is something about the airs of this place which makes every human fall for it.

Peace seekers can head for the beautiful Dal Lake set amidst lush green Deodar forests. Positioned at an altitude of 1,775 metres, the lake is just 2 kilometres away from McLeodganj Market, which adds to its popularity.

Adventure suckers can visit Masrur, which is known for various rock-cut temples dating back to the 8th century AD. The carvings of the temples are extremely delicate, with various images of the Hindu deities engraved on it. Kangra Museum is also a great place to peep into the history in the form of various articles and artefacts displayed here, which signify the Tibetan Buddhists and the Kangra Valley culture.

The Monasteries of Dharamshala are known for their unearthly serenity and Namgyal Monastery is a true exemplar of this fact. Established by the 3rd Dalai Lama in 1575, this monastery is home to around 200 Tibetan monks who stay busy chanting all day long.

Apart from this, a greater influx of travellers visits the city to participate in some challenging adventure activities which are made for daredevils only. One can relish activities such as paragliding, rock climbing, rappelling, flying fox, urban zipline and trekking here. Planning a night camp in Dharamshala, away from the bustling city life, also excites many travellers.
