Located around 19 kms to the East of Leh, this building has 12-storey, each flaunting beautiful exhibits related to Buddhist art, including Thangka paintings, statues, stupas, swords, etc. Another exemplar of great architecture is the Leh Palace raised during the 17th century by the ruler King Sengge Namgyal. The Palace, which was once deserted by the royal family, has now been restored by the Archaeological Survey of India. The palace still oozes royalty and gleams with opulence.
One of the most astonishing sites in Leh is the Magnetic Hill, which makes visitors wonder and ponder in disbelief. The science behind the phenomenon is unknown but it has been observed that if you leave your vehicle at the base of the hill with the brakes unlocked, it will start moving uphill slowly on its own.
